Tweed Shire Council’s Initiative to Reduce DA Backlog
June 28, 2022
Due to the unprecedented level of application activity over the last 12 – 24 months, Tweed Shire Council will implement Development Application (DA) Backlog Reduction Program 2022, putting in place strategies to achieve a more manageable number of DAs in their system.
One of Council’s key strategies aim to reduce DA assessment officers’ availability for general enquiries on new development proposals, including communications with applicants prior to accepting lodgements in the NSW State Planning Portal.
Some other Council strategies include:
– Prioritisation of existing and new DAs
– Increased onus on applicants to ensure application lodgements include all relevant documents
– Changes to pre-lodgement procedure
